Sherlock's ability in BSD: the Mind Palace
[Ignoring the minut details that change with different adaptations, Sherlock is known to be able to sorta "choose" what information he keeps in his mind. Usually, that's things he deems important, mostly to help him solve cases. --ex. He refuses to remember that the earth revolves around the sun, but he knows 100+ types of tobacco ash--. In the BBC show specifically, this is referred to as his "mind palace". In the episode, The Abominable Bride, he creates an entire victorian "au" to solve a crime in his head.]
- In terms of an ability, he could have a literal mind palace. He could have this palace, where different rooms become different crime scenes, or even offices or libraries stored with information that he could use later.
[I did originally consider his ability being a "real" version of ultra deduction since Ranpo doesn't actually have an/the ability. However, it's logistics are still shown through him so I wanted to think up smth different. Also, Sherlock's knowledge is something he already possesses outside of this idea, and I think it just diminishes its significance to chalk it up to just an ability for the sake of an au. Sherlock is just that smart, he learned many things, without the help of any superpower, and I think that is very significant, in and out of the au.]
- This is also 100% an indirect message to Asagiri to make Sir Arthur Conan Doyle or Sherlock into a character in Bungou; specifically because ACD's works became public domain this year and I think it'd just be really cool.
[If you read this far, you're freaking awesome,, add me so that we can rant about BSD, Sherlock, or both together because I can talk about these topics for literal days.]
