alrighty sailors 1 day i was shashed outta my skull (lel) and looking 4 random shit on crunchyroll & i saw the guy from the "thanks but reconsider!" meme on the cover..i was like...oh shit!!! and im not usually into slice of life or whatver genre this is but its like. really fricken neat
whats this whole thing all about huh???
sooooooo its about this skull face dude name is Honda who works at a bookstore's manga department,,, hes the guy on the right in this image. (funfact the kanjis meaning for his name 本田 is "book field") everyone of the bosses/coworkers have heads that r like masks and stuff, and they do stuff too
this is based on the manga authors real life experiences working at a bookstore!!! this bit is very important so i bolded it.
this feels pretty much like a direct adaptation of the manga. so ill dock it points for that. otherwise very cool!!
stuff that happens that i liked
- various foreigners
- a lot of real life mangas are mentioned but some letters blacked out for copyright reasons
- that cool mythological bit in episode 11
- honda attempting to speak english
- wholesaler discourse
- customer service training portrayed (accurately) as a fear inducing nightmare
- "the tweeting thing" when authors announcing they're doing a book signing and a ton of fans come, overwhelming the bookstore
- the OP music.. ah it goes so hard....

okay ... this happens in episode 1 (and ep5).its really frickin intresting!
alright soo in this store. BL/yaoi stuff is popular and there are a few segments about it,especially in the 2nd half of the episode. ill grab a synopsis here coz i cant be arsed to type it... Then a large group of ladies are loudly exclaiming their joy at the BL manga "A book cover that shouldn't ever be read in public" and they ask Honda for a recommendation for mad-popular BL manga. Honda panics, and recommends Nekomimi, a catboy BL manga. They aren't interested in it, so he suggests Mondo Muscles 2000% BL manga. The ladies enjoy the suggestion and make their purchases. yeah and this dude is like. cool
and in ep5 theres a gay couplle who were looking for gay manga...found the BL section n they got hyped. again very cool!!!!! o yea and all that BL fujo discourse isnt really discussed coz. its just not. lol. once again super cool thx honda!! wish more ppl were like him lol
speaking of that... opinion time.... wish ppl were more chill with BL coz i like readin it and i dont wanna get caught in a flamewar so. here's my take on it.....what demographics are "allowed" to read/ BL,GL,etc..it's all bullshit!! it does not matter! wether BL is fetishisation or not..(and it is, lol)...doesn't matter coz it's really not a big deal!! not as much as h8rs on the internet -talking over gay voices- make it out to be!! what matters is how they actually act around gay ppl. which BL does not actually influence that much, btw! ok no bookbanning pls!! thx!!

wikipedia uses mostly she/her and accidentally sometimes he/him to describe honda... thats because...! honda is a woman, but,the anime uses a male voice actor. for some reason.
letters
all of the manga publishing companies are substituted with letters.. e.g. Company S, Company N... except for KADOKAWA because kadokawa owns the publisher for the original manga

i dont freakin know!! all the author credits just say "Honda" with zero links or anything, even the original pixiv comic's author handle DOESNT HAVE A USER PROFILE ATTACHED...freaky!!... honda is anon? :O
crunchyroll is weird
i wanted to screenshot some episodes for this but when the the crunchyroll player started i plugged in my PC charger and the entire screen went like. super laggy. like. 0.1 FPS sooo no pix for u. i did find something off google though
