how do you tell if something or aplace is actually haunted?

so i own this weird doll that only has 1 eye cuz it just randomly fell out and im pretty sure the person i bought it from said that it was haunted but im not 100% like i get weird vibes but ive never actually noticed anything before (but i am out quite alot) so does anyone know anything i could look out for? also im almost fully convinced my house is haunted like quite a few things have happened like things randomly turning on and refusing to turn off once a glass light bulb protector (idk what else to call it) just randomly shattered and a few other things but i dont want to make this to long so how do i tell if something is haunted or not and ngl im slightly convinced the ghost of my step-dads dad is haunting my house because we have his ashes in the back room so it would make a lot of sense
