digital childhood

i hate sounding like retro 40 year old but it amazes me how the kids i watch are technology obsessed. they all want the newest games and phones and tablets, i mean i was obsessed with my ipod and moms laptop when i was their age, but i couldn’t imagine growing up with todays technology. i find it sad how some of these kids don’t enjoy going outside and they don’t enjoy simple things and interactions. it all feels programmed and stiff, but don’t get me wrong, i enjoy technology and social media. but i could live without it, at least i did when i was a kid. but we were never meant to have technology this addicting. maybe i’m just being a little bit existential.

I completely agree. I am younger, hell I am not even an adult yet though I will be soon, but I was able to play outside and actually meet other kids and make friends. Now though? I spend hours outside, driving my bike around neighborhoods almost daily, no kids in sight. I always try to get at least an hour minimum outside each day. It's really just... depressing and sad to see. It's also probably why a lot of my generation has mental health problems, its not good being cooped up inside doing nothing all day, and exercising actually helps improve not only physical health but also mental.

ur so right, staying inside and all this technology are both big factors in mental health and it’s not good that these kids are more prone to developing mental health issues because of it… it just isn’t the same as it used to be
