How I would write a poem (Writing Blog Post)

I’m currently in my CW class and they’re actually talking about blog posts. They’ve just set us off on a task to ‘Write a text for an audience of emerging creative writers with the title: How I would write a poem’

So i thought: fuck it! Let’s do it here and actually post it. May as well lololol

Poetry, at its core, is simple. Words, stanza’s and pure emotional fuel are all you really need. If you want to write a specific style of poem, such as a song or a sonnet or what have you, that’s absolutely fair and able to be pursued. But, at the end of the day, it’s just stanza’s and repressed feelings. This is where you let those out, odd metaphor after odd metaphor, into a weird lump that probably doesn’t rhyme. That is the glory of freeverse poetry, where literally none of that rhyming couplets or iambic pentameter shit matters. Just write and make sure you can separate ‘em a little bit. Poetry, really, is easy to grasp. Just start typing, type man.
