SONGS OF FEB/MARCH 2023

idk if ya'll noticed, but i missed last month! let's pretend that didn't happen. i'll be including links, so i highly recommend ya'll give them a listen!

1. COCTEAU TWINS - HEAVEN OR LAS VEGAS (shoegaze/dreampop): if you're into post-punk meets The Cranberries, you're in for a treat. i feel as of cocteau twins are somewhat of a classic within the genre, and i recently have been diving into their discography. they've been a calm in the middle of the last couple months storm.

2. MORTICIAN - RABID (death metal): while hardcore death metal usually isn't my scene, i've started listening to this absolute banger when it appeared on my FYP via TikTok. Mortician has really interesting band history and i enjoy their style of metal.

3. AZEALIA BANKS - LUXURY (pop/r&b): a bit of a genre change, but not out of pocket for me personally. i try to listen to a bit of everything, if i can stand it, and Miss Banks has some of my favorite 2010's pop. this entire album is good, honestly. give Broke With Expensive Taste a listen, if you're into that particular genre.

4. THE CARTAKER - LIBET'S DELAY (ambient): The Caretaker is a phenomenal artist, and if you haven't already, you should check out both Somewhere At The End Of Time, as well as the album this song is on, An Empty Bliss Beyond This World. The Caretaker creates music sampling old songs, as well as mixing new ones that sound both nostalgic and melancholic. you may even recognize some songs from the SATEOF album, because a lot of his music is used for ambience in video games or creepy videos. anyway, give The Caretaker a listen!

5. MOI DIX MOIS - MONOPHOBIA (visual kei): not like i ever left it, but i'm *re-entering* my visual kei era. i've been so wrapped up in american/british goth music and fashion that i damn near forgor 💀 my roots. visual kei is a genre that needs 0 introduction, but if you don't know, it's esentially japanese rock/metal. imo, it's very similar to america's glam rock/metal phase, but it's still well and alive in japan.

6. DAVID BOWIE - FAME (funk/soul): genre bender Mister Bowie obviously doesn't have to be introduced. this song has been featured in a commercial (i think for a perfume brand?) and it got stuck in my head, which naturally means it is now on repeat in my brain. i went through a heavy David phase as a kid-teen, so i'm always happy when my love for him rolls around again.

7. CHRISTIAN DEATH - SPIRITUAL CRAMP (post-punk/goth rock): another goth rock band i've been listening to a lot lately is Christian Death! particularly, i've been into the bass heavy, post-punk genre, and CD fills that void within my soul. i like listening to them when i'm walking out and about downtown (when it's not raining, anyway :/).

that'll wrap it up for the last couple months! i hope ya'll find some new fun music from this list! hopefully i'll be on time next month so i won't have to wrap two in one again.
