The Airplane Game

I like to play this game in my free time. Or just, anytime there's a lot of air traffic really. What you do is, listen for plane engines and then try to guess what kind of plane it is. And then after you guess, check FlightRadar (or FlightAware, or any other air traffic app) and find out if you were right or wrong.

It's fun, plus you get to learn how to distinguish the planes from one another. Some of them sound different enough that it's easy to differentiate (A huge Amazon Air plane sounds TONS different from one little sports plane with only 4 seats) but some of them are definitely trickier!

For the most part I think I can differentiate between Cessna, Piper, and Beech planes with ~80% accuracy. The ones that throw me off are the ones that hardly fly around here, all of a sudden I hear some weird noise and don't know what to make of it....

Also, a good rule of thumb. If it's military, it's probably gonna be  L O U D .  Unless it's a Hercules that's just so high up it looks like a funny commercial airliner plane. But a lot of military stuff doesn't even show up on radar, so you could just get jumpscared by 5 really low really loud helicopters or planes just making the loudest noise ever.

...but that's also super cool to witness!
