a little bit more ‘bout me

hello!! thought I’d elaborate on my interests tab and talk a bit (a lot) about what I like and what my history online has been! My time on the interwebs has consisted a few different things and so with that: here you go!!!!!! (its a long one so just skip to specific headings if you’d like)

ABOUT ME

Whatever names you know me as, call me what you will! I’m 21 years, use any pronouns (feel free to shake it up a little), and reside in Australia. I’m autistic, a virgo, and INFP which is like getting shot three times in the chest (/j!!!!!). I’m simultaneously unlabelled and very happy to give every word explaining my gender to you. Whilst I work on my neocities you can find me on tumblr :D <3 If you know me from elsewhere that’s your problem

I like to listen to music, draw my ocs, game, go op-shopping, talk about and analyse characters and pairings, watch jerma, street food and video essays videos on youtube, collect trinkets and teddy bears, try and learn languages, do puzzles, play sudoku, and drink a whole lot of milo (it’s not healthy).

I’ve been studying Community Services since February last year and am currently doing a Diploma! During my studies I’ve constantly wondered what area I’d like to go into, but my heart has always been set on supporting and advocating for my fellow trans and gender diverse people. Our wellbeing, health and future has always been a priority for me. I’m also interested in youth work, groups/programs, and community development :-)

Some facts about me:

- I’ve been online since 2007! Poptropica was my #1 (speedrunning before it was cool)

- I have a quite moderate collection of Schleich figures consisting of mostly horses

- I’ve tried to learn Swedish, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, & Italian. Not good at any :’(

- I love painting and looking after my nails and seriously considered studying cosmetology

- I really love sorting, organising, filing, labelling, arranging, styling, you name it!

- I occasionally attempt to make music but I’m notoriously bad at finishing songs. Oh well! :P

GENERAL

I’ve been drawing for a long time now but got properly into it around 7-9 or so years ago when I got my first tablet, the infamous Wacom Intuos Manga! I love drawing and developing story around my OCs, as well as making fanart for my fave games and practising anatomy. I’m mostly digital, using an iPad and Procreate, but I will occasionally bring out the acrylic paints and pencils!

I’ve had a quite literal lifelong interest in dinosaurs for as long as I can remember. My interest unfortunately faded as I got older and got into new things, but was revitalised by a channel called Your Dinosaurs Are Wrong which spurred me into loving all things dino-related again! My favourite dinosaur flips between Carnotaurus and Velociraptor all the damn time!! (historically i’ve been a big stegosaurus fan). From this, a newfound love and appreciation for birds, insects and marine life emerged! I love you giant isopod

As for cars, I’ve never much known about them and won’t say I know how to identify a model just by looking at it, but I’ve grown to be very fond of Volvos! I really took a shine to the 700/900 series initially (a 740/940 wagon is the dream) but find myself keeping an eye on 90’s V70’s and XC70’s too. Anything in that classic boxy style with shitbox appeal enamours me.

As for the smaller things, I adore mid-century design and will cry if some home renovating show decides to tear up a beautiful 1970s bathroom. That’s just how i roll. I like older sci-fi art from those such as John Harris and Syd Mead, and love to look at how those in the past interpreted the future. Old and obsolete tech interests me too, which I think is why the move for sites like this and making your own space online in the midst of corporate bullshit and death of flash inspired me so!

I enjoy doing puzzles and have quite a variety of them! I love observing animals especially birds and bugs in my area. I really love making things and occasionally I knit, sew and try to crochet (still can’t get the hang of it) :P I love talking with my friends about whatever, whoever, well… whenever! My favourite animals are elephants, rodents, bears, isopods, birds, moths, cats, and australian species in general. If I’m not studying, i’m probably online sharing really cool art I see or stupid videos that make me laugh way too much!!!!!!

MUSIC

Whilst I will listen to a lot of whatever happens to show up in feeds and given as a recommendation, I’m a big fan of anything 80s especially new wave! From 60s folk music to 100 gecs to thai love ballads to WHAM! to the undertale soundtrack and those songs that played at every bogan house party in 2009, i’ll truly give anything a listen :-) I grew up listening to a lot of 90/00s songs as well as some oldies thanks to my family, which then went onto an obsession with My Chemical Romance and Black Veil Brides who were the most notable bands for influencing my 13 year old self and still hold a nostalgic place in my heart. I got to meet Frank Iero a few years ago and keep a signed CD and shirt in my belongings :’)

My favourite albums include: Red - The Communards, Patience - Mannequin Pussy (please give it a listen!!!), Black Celebration - Depeche Mode, Truthdare Doubledare - Bronski Beat, The Colour of Spring - Talk Talk, Automatic For The People - R.E.M, Back to Bedlam - James Blunt, and of course the Rocky Horror Picture Show & Cats (1981) soundtracks!

I have too many favourite songs to list them!!!!!! Maybe I’ll link a playlist… :-0

My recommendations to others would be 80/90s thai songs!! For a majority, they’re really chill to listen to. A favourite album of mine is รับขวัญวันใหม่ (Rub Kwun Wun Mai) by Bird Thongchai. The album is on Youtube and Spotify. I think I’ll make another entry about songs I’d like to share :D For now, how about checking out 米兒 and 我要你爱 by Amazing Show/美秀集團? (links to youtube).

GAMES

I was first introduced to playing Metal Gear quite recently, just within the last 3 years or so, and absolutely loved it. I’m unsure how the series got brought to my attention then, it has been around for many a years after all, but something got me to buy a used copy of The Legacy Collection and while it sounds dramatic to say it altered my life, it definitely had it’s influence. The series introduced me to some really cool media/people/ideas but also Quiet, a character who got me drawing fanart of her every week therefore revitalising my interest in drawing and developing my style (thanks girl). My fave in general is MGS3 but my fave to play is for sure MGSV, of which I dumped way too many hours (700+) into to hang out with quiet and get the MOLOTOK-68 (still don’t have it LOL).

Enough about that though, what about other games? Yakuza shoved it’s way in when the MGS hyperfixation fluctuated (kiryu kazuma my trans autistic brethren), quite recently Bloodborne has swooped in too and (as said by every dudebro, their mother and jerma) is probably my favourite game to play ever. I’m yet to play Disco Elysium myself but it interests me all the same. Some other notable mentions are Minecraft, Splatoon 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, Elder Scrolls (love you oblivion), God of War, The Sims, The Last of Us, LEGO Batman 2, Slime Rancher, Ghost of Tsushima & Death Stranding.

A few mobile games I like are LLSIF!, Granblue Fantasy, AFK Arena, Cookie Run: Kingdom and Pikmin Bloom (unfortunately i don’t play as much nowadays but i still love it).

I love playing Koi-Koi too (thanks to Yakuza 0 for that) and will happily play it either on 51WWG, Board Game Arena, or with the poor sap I somehow convinced to play with me at this gathering (I made my own deck! You have to help me make use of them!!).

TV/MOVIES

Some shows I like at the moment are Good Omens (WHERE IS S2), Our Flag Means Death (WHERE IS S2), What We Do In The Shadows, Pui Pui Molcar, BBC Ghosts, Would I Lie to You?, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, whatever comes on the comedy channel, and home hunting/renovating shows (i love getting mad at people).

I was a big fan of NBC Hannibal but stopped engaging in it when the ‘fandom’ got a bit too much for me. I’ll still happily talk about characters analysis’ and what i think about it for hours of course. I was big into anime for a while. That i don’t think i’ll happily talk about. LOL

A lot of my childhood was spent watching Horrible Histories, Adventure Time, and Total Drama Island. For a time, I was really obsessed with Better Homes and Gardens as well as Australia’s Funniest Home Videos; I even appeared on TV in the crowd once and met Shelly Craft! I wouldn’t know how to find the episode now but I was in a Moshi Monsters shirt LOL. Not only that, but I met Jason Hodges too, 10 year old me was truly star-struck. Whilst I didn’t get to talk to her, I also got the chance to see Sora Tokui, the voice actress for Nico Yazawa! Very exciting.

As for movies, I love The Dollars Trilogy especially For A Few Dollars More, as well as the Matrix trilogy, and due to the social crucifixion that comes with not having seen Lord of The Rings in your 20s, I recently watched it and instantly loved it (who knew something immensely popular was enjoyable).

Some defining movies of my childhood (somewhat in order) are Tangled, Megamind, Mamma Mia, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Addams Family Values, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Racing Stripes, Calamity Jane, Matilda, Wallace & Gromit: Curse of The Were-rabbit, Madagascar, Ice Age, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Jurassic Park, Oliver & Company, Coraline, Rango, Wall-E, Surf’s Up, The Sword in The Stone, The Secret of Nimh & Kung Fu Panda

OTHER

Who do I watch on Youtube? Jerma!!!!!! (through cheltie VOD edits or arson clips LOL), Drew Gooden, LGR, Your Dinosaurs Are Wrong, SimplyNailogical, Tom Scott, Bernadette Banner, Dollightful, NakeyJakey, You Suck At Cooking, Sideways, Defunctland, Kitboga, Quinton Reviews, DankPods, Izzzyzzz, Ambiguous Amphibian, Dancing Bacons, & JJin Food. My history on youtube is mostly embarrassing to me now but consisted of watching a lot of Jacksepticeye, Markiplier, Dan & Phil, and Unus Annus (RIP and also NOT CRINGE).

Not sure what else to add here at the moment!! I’ll think of something.
