So for 2023 I thought I'd reread (or read for the first time!) every Star Wars book I owned or could find a physical copy of! They'll be in roughly chronological order starting from the RotS novelization (I'm gonna save Kotor, High Republic, & Clone Wars stuff for later), since that's the book I recently reread that made me want to revisit everything.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I thought this was pretty good, it ranks 2nd in my High Republic rankings (only read the adult novels so far). I thought the main characters were all likable and enjoyed reading them, and the story was pretty well developed and paced. My only complaint is I felt there were too many side characters. The one's on the "Republic" side of the story were underutilized and almost felt superfluous; especially Jedi other than Gella. I also thought the cult was overall underdeveloped and the two assassins could've just been combined into one character with how little they're actually present.

This was…really mixed. The romance (and new character) was awful & poorly written but the stuff outside of it was *ok* I guess. The plot was really weak & badly paced but the development for Mantis crew (especially Merrin) was ok.

Juno’s story was decent (until she get captured 😒) & would’ve been a good sequel on it’s own. But Starkiller’s story was boring & felt like an afterthought. The clone aspect made me not care about him at all & I dreaded his chapters; which Unfortunately form the bulk of the 3rd act (and 100% of the game).

This was mixed. The first 2/3 was simple & shallow as it breezed through the game’s story without adding much not shown in the game (except maybe glimpses into Juno's backstory). Then, it starts getting more interesting & developing the characters…aaaannnnd it ends 😑

Having not read this since it came out, it wasn’t exactly what I thought it’d be. I’d forgotten that Vader is basically a secondary character in this, it focuses more on Order 66 survivors. There’s also a lot in here that might’ve inspired or influenced Jedi Fallen Order and the Kenobi show. Still a decent book, but if you're expecting something focused on Vader, you might be disappointed.

Hadn't read this since before the film released, and wow...this is still one of my favorite Star Wars books (and books in general). It's written like a true tragedy and has a impending sense of dread and underlying darkness that just creeps throughout the writing of this story. It reminds me that entire prequel era's changed a lot between pre-2008 TCW & now. It was a lot darker & "mature" back then. TCW also fundamentally changed & misunderstood Anakin's character...gonna reread more pre 2008 Clone Wars stuff now.

Unfortunately, I thought this was just kinda boring. The stuff with Luke & the Sith relics was cool (and I liked that side f the story), but the rest feels loosely connected & hastily thrown together. It also felt really bloated & unfocused, like it wasn't sure what story it actually wanted to tell or focus on.
