Selamat pagi! it's time, once again, to share a mortifying story from my youth. щ(ʘ╻ʘ)щ

For some context! If you don't know, on the Nintendo DSi, we had a service called Flipnote Studio, where you could make your own animations. (oﾟvﾟ)ノ Flipnote had an online service called Flipnote Hatena where you could share your animations, so it had its very own community, specific memes, culture, etc. It was very unique!! I was obsessed with it, and I still kind of am. (^^ゞ

So, with how knowledgeable and nostalgic I am on matters about Flipnote Hatena, and how I was there in its prime, you'd think I would have been pretty solid socially on that service, right?

I never had a Flipnote account, I only ever lurked as a guest user, and there's actually a very specific reason, I remember it perfectly...

I think i had to be 7 or 8, still a little Pocchi. (I can't believe it's been a decade now!?) Just a few years before, my mom got me a DS for Christmas 2009, it was the first time our house had a Wi-Fi router too!? (^^ゞ She helped me set up Flipnote Studio and Hatena that day, so she was pretty familiar with it. I drew Flipnotes for a few years, watching creators from afar... then, one night, I went to the screen to create an account.

I was still pretty young, so, I didn't think mom would let me make an account. (#｀-_ゝ-) I mulled on it for a long time, having philosophical discussions with myself, wondering about my age... how old am i, anyway? how old should I be to use Flipnote Hatena? am i even that old, yet? i don't feel so young... come to think of it, i can't even swear yet!! i've never even said a single one!

So, in the username screen, I just typed in every single bad word I could think of. It's the perfect outlet to get all the words out without anyone hearing me or ever finding it... ( ﹁ ﹁ ) It would disappear from existence as soon as I went back to the Hatena main screen, anyway!
After a while, I got bored, and realized... hey. I've never even asked my mom for an account. What would happen if I just... asked? (。_。)

I left my room to go ask her and she said I could! It was surprisingly easy! Something I waited my entire youth for! I'd finally be up there with the big creators... EpicGuitar... ShinyEevee.. InvaderGar...! At last! (＠_＠;)

All we have to do is go to the sign-up screen...

there is an existing account already,

called 'FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKSHITSHITSHITPISSASSDAMNHELLFUCKFUCKFUCK' ( ͡ ' ˍゝ͡ ' )

what the hell am I supposed to do with this?! how do I explain that!? What the hell do I even say!??

I nervously looked up at my mother's stunned face, and said...
'ah, some one else must have done that...'
I was an only child.　━━(￣ー￣*|||━━

In the end, I got a massive scolding, got grounded, and was basically told to never ask for a Hatena account again. It was funny in hindsight, but I was mortified so bad by that experience that I never asked for an account again, up until Hatena shut down. I couldn't even look at the signup screen without getting red in the face. ～(　TロT)σ

Really, it's probably for the best I never got an account, I don't think it's a good idea for such a little kid to look up to creators that much. (ㆆ_ㆆ) There were lots of Flipnotes that never got posted, where I really wanted to befriend and compete with popular creators, despite by art skills being, well...

...i was 6, it can't be that pretty... (￣_￣|||)

And in the end, we were all just kids at that age, てゆか、parasocial relationshipがあります (ˉ▽ˉ；)... Flipnote Hatena was really just a safe haven for kids and teens to blow off steam after class, that's all, but at such a young age it's easy to see older, talented kids as Gods.

So it's really a good thing I said FUCK until I ran out of usable characters!
