Making new Sona aka New project: Art related YouTube channel

Hello welcome to my entry

I've decided to try to make new channel where I'll have animated storytimes and over all will just talk about topics that interest me >:3

Soooo

To start off I decided to design a persona or mascot of sorts for the channel.

When I was designing them I really was drawing doodles of elven people and decided that it would be fun to make character like that.

Though I didn't want them to just be boring human with elven ears so I gave them some ✨spice✨

During my time designing them I was really into monochrome colourschemes I made their design mostly in whites, black and gray. For some interesting aspects to their design I have them one accent colour. This made the design way less boring to look at.

I'm following one artist that gives their character cool face patterns so I decided to get inspired by them. They have interesting (probably) make up looking patterns. They don't look anything like the person I was inspired by because I suck at making them and also didn't want it to feel like a copy of their work.

I also added them piercings because I think they're so cool X'D that's pretty much the only reason lmao 

Now about their body type. Again I didn't want them to be a boring human. I got inspired for them by my older Sona Mitch (still thinking about connecting those two in some way) and gave them digitigrade legs. Their feet look like paws cuz I thought it's super cute 😭 I also added patterns over their body so they don't look plain and match the face.

Their outfit was supposed to resemble a scientist cuz I guess I like the vibe but I'm not sure if I succeeded lmao

So now I have the design (which you'll be able to see below) but hell man it's so complicated and will be pain to animate which will be my main way of producing my content on the channel 😭

This made me decide to make animation friendly version of their design ahahah

I pretty much just took the existing design and got rid of necessary details while still keeping the same vibe

I'm not fully happy with it yet so I might change up this version in teh future after I'll have some practice animating them

I'm gonna go over little bit over my process while drawing this 

This is my first design 

I've done this as I way to see if my ideas that I described before worked on the character

You can see that I added them wings and antennas. This was supposed to represent a bee because I love bees but in the over all design it didn't work. It made it way too full.

Also you can see that I added the back thingy to the shirt which I personally love and might use it as alternative outfit option

Then I went more over the design and decided to design each part separately 

I started with the face

I made their nose to look more like a muzzle/animal nose (?). I also made the eyes look better especially the pupil. They're not purely white which made it look hella weirddd. I also made their ears longer.

Then come their limbs. I took inspiration from Slavic culture. Cuz I'm Slavic XD. I just took symbols that resonated with me. One is a symbol of a god of death I think and another are just Slavic alphabet spelling my name (Oliver). Yeaah I know it's isn't super original but at least it looks neat (at least to me)

Theen there's the mouth. For a long time I wanted to make weird looking mouth especially when it comes to colours and here I had the space to do so. There's not much more to say to it. I think it looks funky and I love it

And then we have the end resuuults

I put every part together to see how it works. The shirt it shorter cuz I thought it might me easier to animate and also gives the character interesting silhouette

I'm really happy with the end result
