I don't want my family or work to join here

My thoughts on group popularity

I feel like once a group gets too big it attracts more and more people who are farther and farther away from the core values of the members. There is probably going to be a time when this site is at it's best and coolest. At that time I'll probably stop sending friend requests out, and I'll stop accepting them.

IRL Friends and Associates (barf)

They don't work with this stuff for me. I don't want them coming on here spamming me with their dad jokes. I participate in these sites (as rare as they are) because I wanna have a controlled environment where I can control what people see of me and where I can control what I see of them. As an artist, it's important for me to have this sanctuary away from people who maybe don't believe in me or see me as just another normie. Because I'm not, I just have to be to them IRL for the most part.

Coding

I'm not good at it. I have messed with it since myspace days. BUT I think it's essential for setting up your sanctuary sharing space, much like setting up an art studio or a room in my house. I think it's cool just to know enough to be able to feel joy being able to have an influence over my webspaces.

Meeting New Friends Here

I missed this part of things. FB was set up really wierd for making friends. I always hated it. It was like we were all forced to wear school uniforms. God aweful.

I love you. Have a nice day. Don't be a stranger.

I think making some positive decisions about what information and people you are exposed to can help a lot. So far the people here have been great - and I agree the time might come when sour interests intrude and that wont help the experience. Hopefully we don’t get any algorithms! The unique expression of people and their art is awesome to explore.

I feel you on 100% of this. Facebook is for looking up people you hated in high school to laugh at them. I'll be the first to admit: I'm a horrible person and do this. If anyone denies that they do it as well, they suck.

Glad you found your way here.
