no phone

so weird how phones have taken over my life. not even in a bad way, just how... convenient they are. i can entertan mayself without a phone. i can fidget without it. i can listen to music on my walkman when i'm on the go (...i don't have an mp3). i can use an alarm clock to wake me up. i can use a calendar to remember appointments. but rapid changes in class schedules, info about public transport, calls about appointments... these things can't be accessed as easily. without mobile data, without easy access to information, i am often stuck. i don't think this kind of thing can be replaced these days and it's scary how little convenient alternatives there are.

the minute we realized technology made things so much more convenient it immediately became what we surround everything with, to the point where removing it certain things become entirely pointless RIP. i remember my mother telling me about road trips when she was a kid & how she had to unfold this large state map and highlight routes her grandpa told her to. or how schools back then kept libraries organized by punch cards. i get to wondering how much less stimulating and more peaceful those times were in terms of tech.
ive always wanted a typewriter cause staring at screens can really sear my brain at times. (β—•__β—•)

this!! and often times older generations don’t seem to recognise how much of a necessity they have become to function in modern society. really interesting yet absolutely terrifying
