girls can kiss now

i made a goal at the start of the year to read 23 books & we r off to a very bad start as its mid march and i just finished the first one :]

girls can kiss now by jill gutowitz is a collection of essays on the lesbian experience and pop culture, and was the first book we read for our lgbt book club.

idk. it was pretty good. the chapter "kiss me, murder me in the woods" is rlly sticking to me rn. in it she talks abt how she used to say she would never go back to being a 14yo girl, but since the pandemic and various other global horrors that have arisen after age 14, she began leaning back into the mindset of being 14. and i can understand that, three of my biggest interests are still to this day naruto, homestuck, and south park: the same big three from when i was 14. but while the conclusion she comes to is about the safety and comfort of being 14, mine remains on the opposite side. i could not survive being 14 again. idk. she's ten or so years older than me. maybe then i'll f33l like she did.

anyways. p solid 4/5 stars. knocking one off bc i f33l like a lot of the... lingo? vibes? could fall out of fashion pretty quickly, it f33ls very 2022. and also i have to be a hater to swifties. <3
