Little Tree Poem (draft #4) 5/16/2021

Little Tree

easy to spot youΒ

at half the height

And twice the strengthΒ

of the saplings around youβ€”

What must it be like to be you?

First attempt at life

taken.Β

Trunk amputated beneathΒ

disfiguring abuseβ€”

degenerative disease, perhaps.Β

Your scar is a peek

into your story

and your optimismΒ

thrives

in your single, surviving branch.Β

Tiny leaves flutter merrilyΒ

as the wings of a bird

embracingΒ

the crisp, fresh

morning air.Β

Oh, what it must be like to be you!

Patient

ResilientΒ

and just happy to be here.Β

So cool. I have thoughts like these when I'm exploring the woods, or my yard. But some days I am the destroyer LOL with a machete to keep some parts of my yard under control.

I was just lost in thought about this specific tree and couldn’t help but to personify it. I had my handy lil notebook to record my poetic thoughts. :)

Excellent! And I appreciate that you wrote "peek" instead of "peak" so many people do that and I just -gif of mal reynolds doing the hand thing-
