I get pretty, I get all dressed up
to go nowhere in particular
I'm writing this from a coffee shop in London!
Well, so far things are great. I've had a good rest at the hotel (overslept but nobody seemed to mind even though I've missed breakfast). I wandered the street next to to the hotel afterwards, just looking around. London is nice, though dirty. People think it's fine to just... dump bags of trash in front of their doorsteps, can you imagine? The garbage is spilling out and overflowing. It'd be so easy to simply put a couple of trashcans there, like we do in Europe.
I like the billboards, the advertisements, the little shops. I can't explain how, but they seem so much nicer and... friendlier?... than back home. The typesetting, the fonts, the colors. It's simpler, less modern. Feels genuine.
I grabbed lunch at a Mexican restaurant. I entered through a door that wasn't meant to be used, apparently, and I guess one of the servers was kinda mad at me because he went to close the door right afterwards? I felt bad for a bit, but Gio made me remember the Hanmantra of they'll just have to deal with it. When I went outside, I checked the entrance I've used, and it DID look like a main one, had a staircase leading up to it and everything!
The food was great, I've had tacos and holy shit. The tortilla was so soft and fluffy and the meat was so nice. Everything was! I forgot to order guacamole though, so that was a bit of a bummer. The lemonade I got was sweet and simple in a good way, kind of reminded me of childhood.
It was pretty expensive by Czech standards, but We Been Knew. England's food prices are off the shits. I don't mind because I saved up a bit. I don't really plan on buying anything like the last summer I was there, I'm mostly looking to wander the streets and eating and drinking. For that, the money should be enough. Also -- I get paid in five days, woo!
The restaurant didn't have wifi so I decided to fuck off and find a coffee shop. I did -- and as I've said in the beginning of the article, this is where I'm writing from. The coffee is insanely good (haven't had this smooth bittersweet goodness in a while!!!) and it smells so nice. The environment is industrial and kind of barebones, but in a pretty way. I'd stay here for longer, order another one, and write my short stories like I planned to, but my brother and his girlfriend just texted me that they're on their way back to the hotel already. I have to wrap this up. I think I'll have more time to write on the train to Bournemouth, so I don't mind that much.
I'll update this article with photos later... or post a new one altogether. They're not works of art, but I think they do a nice job of illustrating the places I've been to.
