Reviews: This would make a good movie if the world could understand soulmates. Most "why choose" stories start off with the character being older, and it's like a sexual awakening. This story does start in the present, but flashbacks to the past make it clear why Val can't choose. The boys fight for her attention when younger and show up for her in Paris when asked because they never stop loving her. She selfishly can't give any of them up, either.
The twist in all this is her brain cancer is back (why she asked them all to Europe for the summer), and they realize they wasted the last 10 years trying to avoid the dreaded question of who Val will choose. She has always chosen all of them but being stuck in their pride and their own emotion, the guys don't realize until it's almost too late that they don't care who she chooses; they just want to be with her, be how it used to be when they were kids.
Another plot twist, there is a surgery that could save her, it's just extremely risky, and Val might not make it. The happy ending she wished for in pairs happens, and a new being starts for the guys once Val enters surgery. These 2 books made me cry, get mad and be grateful for my soulmate. We should all be so luck to have 1 soulmate in a lifetime let alone 3.
