SOMETHING AMAZING HAPPENED TODAY!

GUYS. Today was SO COOL! My ground instructor was having his CFI checkride today AT THE SAME TIME that I was flying with my instructor. In other words, you know how you gotta do a driving test before you get your license? Well, that's what a checkride is for aviation. A CFI is a Certified Flight Instructor.

So, my ground instructor PASSED his checkride and officially became a CFI today! I am so so happy for him! And so glad that I got to be at the airport when it happened! We got to see some of his flight while we were in the air, and once we landed I headed to the school and we congratulated him!

Oh man! That was honestly so so rewarding to see and I'm super happy for him! I wonder if he's going to teach here at the school too! I hope he does! I'd love to fly with him one of these days!!

Anyways, aside from that I had a really good day today! I'm getting more confortable with the controls, my landings are.... A liiiiittle rough, but they're so much better than last time! I didn't even get motion sick this time, even though I was doing some steep turns.

Woooo! I just feel so energized and happy right now! I ate a huge burger and now I can't wait to go home and rest. What a day!

Yo that's amazing, it sounds like you're both working really hard. Can't wait to see the machines you fly!

I train in a Cessna-172 Skyhawk! It's a cute little plane. Here's what they look like: https://cessna.txtav.com/en/piston/cessna-skyhawk

And for the helicopter, well, I won't be training in it nearly as often since it's a COMPLETELY different way of flying, but what I trained in and will eventually train more in, is a Robinson R-22! https://robinsonheli.com/r22-beta-ii-helicopter/

There's also a couple of pics on my instagram of the specific ones I've flown, I've flown 3 or 4 different Skyhawks, they all pretty much look the same except one of them had an upgraded cockpit with digital displays (which I actually... Don't like as much as just the gauges, haha)

Those are fantastic little airplanes I had seen before but didn't know the name of. And it's curious you mention that about the digital landscape, why do you dislike it so much?

Hmm, I dunno. I guess it's just because we just naturally resist change. That, and if the power goes out or something damages the screen, then you're screwed. I'd compare it to the whole analog VS digital clock debate. Which is better? That just depends on the person. Analog looks cooler, digital is more convenient.

That does make a lot of sense. Either way these are great news, congrats to your friend :)
