IIIII'MMMM back !! Went on a camp trip yesterday with my family to Kissimmee State Prairie park !!
It was only for one night, because of schedules and all that, but we actually saw quite a bit while we were there !! I'd been there before with just my mom, little sister, and my mom's friend, and that was for 2 nights iirc.
The first time we went, we saw some crested caracara, which are really really cool birds of prey, and can really only be found (nearby) in the prairie. This time, though, we didn't see any caracara.
Instead, we began the first night under a relentless planned and coordinated attack on our tastylicious goods by a group of raccoons. There'd actually been about 3-4 that went between different sites sniffing around and trying to steal what they could. We'd managed to get what was left of dinner packed away before the little rascals got a burger patty. That night, we'd also seen a really cool golden orb weaving spider and some adorable millipedes !!
The next morning, we were thoroughly examined by a turkey !! He stuck around for a looong while, but eventually got chased out by a different tom and his little harem. Some other birds we'd seen that morning were yellow-bellied woodpecker and a downy woodpecker !!
Later, we'd gone on a few little hikes! The first two didn't show us any animals, outside of dragonflies, but they were absolutely beautiful !! The windiness of the prairie totally counters the blazing Florida sun. On our last hike, we'd seen a lot of gators !! Even a baby one !!!
Time for photos :3c
This was taken on Gator hole trail !! Look close enough, and you may see the gators !! When I was out there, I spotted at least 6.
A baby gator that was just chillin in the middle of the trail, right outside gator hole !! If you look at his back foot, you'll see that he's missing all of his toes... But, he didn't seem injured or sick, so we let him be.
Shitty photo I took of one of the turkeys all puffed out for the ladies LOL
My mom is a verrry big fan of carnivorous plants, and we actually managed to find one out there !!! This is a Pink sundew (Drosera capillaris), and we were very lucky to spot it !! My mom had a total plant nerd freakout when they were pointed out X3
I had a great time out there! I love being in nature so so much and the weather was beautiful and just everything was so awesome !! 10/10 want to go again
Thanks for reading :D
