Online Classes, the ultimate test for Homework Haters!

When i was young i had horrible handwriting. I still do, but i used to, too! Note taking and homework was the bane of my existence back then. Now that online classes are the only tools available to me given my circumstances my mortal enemy is now staring me down again. I used to be able to "just wing it" and pass a lot my quizzes/tests, but now that i have to do the learning myself I saw my grades slowly dwindling down to the Cs, Ds, and Fs! There's a saying i live by... "If you wait til the last minute, it only takes a minute." This usually gets me by when it comes to small projects, but anything else i am left skipping sleep and working 12hrs straight on a single project. Needless to say my projects do not usually yield the best results, so i try to take my time. I'll give an example of that with my situation last night!

(SCENE: my room after work. 10PM).  I just got done working an 8 hour shift, and I realized i haven't done a single thing for my college algebra class. For context, we have: complete 3-4 homework assignments, 1 quiz, and 1 discussion post every week.  some weeks are busier than others, but this is the jist of what we usually see. I realized that my deadlines for the week were coming up, and I got a coffee at 10PM, put on some Lofi Hip Hop to get my mind in the study mood, and start the assignments. Slight problem, i have no idea what the fudge i'm reading! All this stuff i learned back in high school surely was not there anymore, and i had to relearn it all! panic starts to set in, as this is the FIRST assignment out of 5 for the night, and with only 2 hrs remaining I start taking notes (deadline is 11:59PM).

I usually take my notes throughout the week, and knock out all of the homework during the weekend, but this week was different... Destiny 2 JUST released their latest expansion pack, and I wanted in on it. so much that I bought the DLC the next day, and played that shit all week. slight problem, I didn't read during that time, and now I'm a full week behind learning ANYTHING algebra related, so I thought to myself "i've got the weekend, i'll just stay in and do it then." but NAY! my friends and i decided to go out and explore the town on Saturday. It was a lot fun, but now i'm even more behind! "There's 24 hours in a day, I can knock it all out on sunday". NAY AGAIN!! My friends were playing Magic: the Gathering, and we spent the next 4 hours playing card games! I then got something to eat, and then was getting ready for bed, but something was telling me not to sleep... not yet. THE HOMEWORK!!

1st assignment, done, 60%, WHAT?! I looked over the incorrect answers.  usually i can get away with doing the firstt assignment and getting away with missing 1-2 questions, but this was different...  what is this eldritch text i'm reading?! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GET THAT ANSWER!?! oh geez, this is gonna be a long night.

It's now 11:30, and i did all the reading and some short notes. time to do the rest of the assignments. ANOTHER ROADBLOCK, more formulas and templates that look so foreign to me. I skim through the text one more time, and salvation! I see the steps on how to get the right answers! Now i'm reading like a madman trying to get these assignments done! homeworks 2, 3, & 4; Done! discussion post; DONE! now the quiz; it wouldn't be a regular quiz without a curveball being thrown at us, I submit the quiz; 40%... my heart sank, as if i went down the hugest roller coaster, but this wasn't fun... I looked over my incorrect answers, and rushing through the test was my downfall, some stuff was understandable (super wrong math), but one question made an impression. i used the WRONG VARIABLES (e.g. instead of 4y+3, i used 4X+3). Luckily we get 2 attempts to take the quiz, and after slowing down and reading carefully i got an 87.5%. nice!

I then passed out on my bed and after waking up, i decided to write this blog. in short, don't procrastinate and stick to your timelines!
