"Pip is not a detective anymore.
With the help of Ravi Singh, she released a true-crime podcast about the murder case they solved together last year. The podcast has gone viral, yet Pip insists her investigating days are behind her.
But she will have to break that promise when someone she knows goes missing. Jamie Reynolds has disappeared, on the very same night the town hosted a memorial for the sixth-year anniversary of the deaths of Andie Bell and Sal Singh.
The police won't do anything about it. And if they won't look for Jamie then Pip will, uncovering more of her town's dark secrets along the way... and this time everyone is listening. But will she find him before it's too late?"
----- review -----
this book was surprisingly good for a murder-mystery sequel. though i did find the plot repetitive (crime happens, pip tries to figure out who it is, big turning point, something happens to her and she feels like she can't do it, gets a pep talk, plot twist, happy-ish ending). either way, i was not expecting the plot to turn that way, especially with the child brunswick - stanley forbes - charlie green - layla mead - dead sister thing. the references to modern day (hate/troll comments, snapchat/instagram stories) worked fine right now, i actually kind of found them relatable, but i know in a few years it will look VERY dated.
things did feel a little rushed towards the end, but i didnt mind because there was so much build up it was BOUND to be a huge crash of crazy plot twists. but i do wish that the child brunswick - stanley forbes thing was talked about more in the beginning of the book and a little bit in the first book.
other than that, the book was pretty entertaining and suspenseful! i cant wait to read the final book (i think?) and the prequel!!
