Ecco2K - Beauty Sleep

technically not an album also technically not even real
but i make the rules here so >_< !!!!
this is a compilation of all of ecco's tracks pre e. a lot of these are just little tastes of what would be to come from him, and a lot more of them are just short ambient pieces. you might think that means it really isn't that great, but my god is it incredible. i'm probably one of the few that think all the tracks on here are quality, but something about it just speaks to me. the short little ambient pieces feel other worldly, or like it's out of a dream. it brings out this feeling of comfort for me that just makes me feel so understood in a strange way. the full non ambient tracks on here are also amazing, tracks like guardianAngels((NATU)) and HOLDMEDOWNLIKEGRAVITY are really some of his best.
the background to this page, as well as my profile theme is based off an album cover I created for this album. the feeling that it gives me. it's ethereal yet has this distorted side to it. it's beautiful, and calming, it's comforting to me. it's like a warm hug after being in the blistering cold. this feeling i've always had but never knew how to describe, it's like you're calling out to something with no response, a beautiful melancholic peace. "brutal grace, combat ballerina."
these tracks genuinely mean a lot to me. so much so I based my whole personality off them!

Finch - What It Is To Burn

flawless early 2000s post-hardcore emo pop. this album is so catchy from start to finish, and there isn't a single wasted second. then it has the nerve to end(er) with one of the craziest best outros in the entire genre.

Coheed & Cambria - The Second Stage Turbine Blade

have you ever heard an emo progressive post-hardcore album about a guy named Mayo that tells the main characters to kill their children and then make dragonflies sting them and turn them into evil monsters that destroy the solar system. well that's what this is, and it's as great as it sounds. 10/10

Fair to Midland - inter.funda.stifle

I could say so much about this album, but I don't even know where to start. do you have that artist or album that's always been with you? an artist where you don't remember a time when they weren't in your life? Fair to Midland is that band for me, and that album is 'inter.funda.stifle'.
everything about this album is perfect to me, it's like it was made for me. from the pretty ambient opening, to the beautiful closing track. Fair to Midland defined my interest in art rock, and prog adjacent music. the way this album includes such vastly different tracks is so impressive to me. ranging from prog rock (orphan anthem '86), alt metal (upgrade^brigade), to a damn interlude that sounds like circus music (cipieron). the way they combined art rock, alternative metal, progressive metal, and then the subtle other genres and elements you hear that differ in almost every track, and even more wildly different from each album. it's somehow so cohesive and works together, yet so different at the same time.
another one of the most impressive things about this album to me is how different it is from their first. 'The Carbon Copy Silver Lining' was very experimental, with almost nu metal aspects. with 'inter.funda.stifle' they almost made a complete left turn, but in the best possible way. everything about it is better, the songwriting, the performances, the vocals, the lyrics. it's perfect 2 me
darroh's vocals and lyricism paints this surreal fairy tale like imagery in your mind, which is only built upon by the the other members instrumentation. it's not a concept album by any means, but it still just pulls you into it so much. every track flows into each other. it almost has this dream like quality to it.
this is my favorite album of all time.

Parannoul - To See the Next Part of the Dream

5th wave emo shoegazey noise pop goodness, with some of the most depressingly relatable lyrics i've ever heard. im really glad you're doing ok now Parannoul <3 u really deserve it
