Oh Bright, Evil Star
the sun warms my skin
as it gently burns through my retinas
so that i may see no evil
its rays cut through corridors
disturbing the peaceful darkness
that i spent my entire soul composing
ever so bright, and ever so invasive
as it emerges and swallows the vast skies
so that it may spread its wicked claims
yet i find myself patiently awaiting its return
after darkness temporarily consumes the blue sky
to compulsively plea its forgiveness
i bathe in the sunlight until i'm raw and red
but i don't know where else to go
the only home i've ever had is confined under blistering heat
powerful and pungeant, loving me darkly
with all of nature's complexities
that i couldn't dare to attempt to understand
i cannot live without that bright star
though i was stripped of my will
and left to fend for myself, blind and alone
