This music video had so many iterations in the writing process, which started as a story about a young woman stuck in a never ending loop of TikTok transitions end on "what if its just someone being chased by a big phone?"
That someone had to be Jessica Morgan. I met Jess on one of the worst shoots of my career but I ended up gaining a pretty amazing friend and creative collaborator.
Before filming Jess and I talked a lot about the tone of the video how we had to get it right, or the whole thing would fall apart. We had a mellow song that didnt scream Horor, and the Villian was a silly phone. We came to the conclusion that if this was gonna work we had to pretend we were making a Korn music video. We listened to them on set, before scenes, in the edit.
For this shoot we rarely did more than one take and my gimbal broke due to the cold in which was lost many hours of filming the first day. But it was one of the best shoots of my life, we'd shoot during the day, take a break watch some of the footage, film a little at night and then watch horror movies until we fell as sleep.
Having that down time and such an adaptive actor allowed us to pivot and test out new ideas on the second day of the shoot, elements that helped us make this film even stronger.
