Howdy, Cherry Cool

I first became a fan of Howdy, Cherry when she was known as Caroline Lazar and I heard her song Take It. There was a subtle agony in her lyrics and voice. It was the same thing that drew me to so many punk bands when I was growing up. The feeling of oh I felt this feeling too and you're putting it into words for me. 

Don't let Howdy, Cherry fool you, she has punk DIY running through her veins, from her own independent music to a music school she started. The more I got to know her the more I felt strongly that we could make a lot of great work together.

For a song as personal as Cool it felt right to lean into as much truth as we could, the video starts in the bodega Howdy, Cherry used to frequent daily, we walk around the blocks where she used to live, sitting on the stoop of her old apartment. Howdy, Cherry has an acting background so many her performance in the video would have been just as strong without these real life reminders but I like to think it added a layer of extra vulnerability to her video, which is wrapped in a universal feeling of not knowing what to do next, and not knowing where to go.
