Today i wanted to share something abt my fav artist who is Zdzislaw Beksniski.
Beksinski was born in Sanok, Poland on 24th of Feburary in 1929. He went to polish trade school (Polnische Öffentliche Handelsschule as it was named previously) and was also attending secret teachings (these were very common in Poland at the time due to Nazi occupation where people werent allowed to study Polish nor anything about Polish culture) and also was learning piano. In 1974 he graduated from Liceum nr 1 w Sanoku (its like highschool) in math-physics class. He really wanted to go to an art school but due to his fathers pressure he went to an architecture school in Krakow where he met his future wife, Zofia Stankiewicz.

He really got intrested in photography, taking pictures of people in weird poses, with wild expressions where the model was most of the time his wife. Then he got into sculpting. He used various items to make sculptures such as wires and metal.
Beksinski started experimating with art now moving to drawing. His first drawings were abstract then he went straight to drawing eroticism, sadist and masochist drawings. He mocked humans in his drawings showing them as deformed, tied up and trapped. The theme that was reappearing the most was of a small boy tied up and forced to look at a s/x scene while a woman hits him with a whip.
Around 1964 he started painting where he went full abstract. He would paint whatever he wanted without giving his paintings any names because he thought the viewer can interprent them however they want to. He always painted while listening to music because it gave him inspiration. His painting started getting popular where he even got hes own art show in france. In the 90s he started creating more dark stuff that he called "gothic".
In the early 2000s he started experimanting with computer editing softwares where he edited photos.
Sadly on 21st of Feburary in 2005 a young man broke into his house and stabbed him 17 times because Zbigniew didnt want give him loan. This man was Robert Kupiec who was 19 at the time and got sentenced to 25 years in prison. He got buried in his hometown, Sanok on the main cementery.
All of his art now can bee seen in the Sanoks museum which has over 300+ of his works. If youre from Poland i really recommend checking it out.
