On Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I don't understand the vampires like if they have no souls then why does Spike get so sad and limp after his divorce and then him and Harmony fighting like clearly they have some sense of like some sort of fulfillment not being met??? I'm only here for the autistic girls . Whatever
