Well, last night my trio finally worked on the eighth and final demo. But I am constructing a solo acoustic piece which will bring the tally to nine songs. So if I remember correctly, this will be the first album with nine songs...
And it's my ninth album...
Hmmm...
This particular song is WAY different from the rest of the album. While we all can agree that this is the heaviest music I've ever written (having Mike Sabatini on drums and Brian Smith on bass helps), it had been a little while since a ballad came to me. This isn't a 'ballad' per se, so don't expect schlocky hair metal or Celine Dion stuff.
No offense.
This piece clearly reminds us of Pink Floyd/Yes/Led Zeppelin but during rehearsals, Brian said "You remember when you added the low notes last time?" He was right, I dropped the last riff down a full octave on the low B string. And while I wasn't looking to add any distortion yet I did. But we have an idea on how to mix it low enough so it adds a nice cushion and isn't so in-your-face.
The rest of the album will do that :)
