Fake f*ceb**k friends

Hey I was just thinking how it's very hard to get into a community online since web 2.0 because of the way everything is centrally controlled by social algorythms.

It doesn't matter how many friends one has on say FB, when you post something, you aren't "allowed" to talk to all of those friends by any means. It narrows it down to what it thinks is worthy news.

But it makes sense in a way because if we want to talk to any of our FB friends we can always go and talk on messenger. However, then what's the point of FB if it's no better than talking on AIM or ICQ?

Blogs are really nice, but you can't do that on FB. it's just not at all set up for long form thought.

I think this was the goal of Web 2.0, to take control of the social infrastructure.

I'm a little sad thinking and maybe knowing that once a platform gets popular it fails us. I never liked FB. I always missed myspace.

Then there is the fact of moving into phones and off the laptops so that disrupted a lot of sites that were well suited to a large screen and real keyboard and mouse, for people who were good at that human interface environment, so membership fell out for some sites and that was a little sad.

I always liked how I could just be anything, through art and music and talk to others along the same lines. Then FB stripped away all our souls and forced us to use our real names and be naked.

It's all messed up and sad.
