So, I recently finished "Midnight Sun" by Stephenie Meyer and I just have to say that it was absolutely amazing. I started it at the beginning of February and after almost a month and 820 pages, I finally finished it yesterday. This book was entirely what I was looking for when I picked it up. If you are a Twilight movie fan and haven't read the books I highly recommend them because IMO they are way better than the movies. Especially, Midnight Sun, which I can now confirm as my favorite Twilight book.
I found immediately that the writing is so much more mature, which is definitely a mix of Edward's old soul and Stephenie's matured writing. I loved being able to experience what it's like in not only Edward's head but also lots of the people around him. For instance, I feel like I got to know a lot more about why Jessica wasn't a true friend to Bella, and I got to like Angela even more after knowing how caring and compassionate she is, even when no one is listening (Or so she thought).
The best part of the book, in my opinion, is listening to the emotional turmoil that Edward experiences. Edward tried his hardest to change the future so that Bella could have a better life, even if it meant she wouldn't be with him forever. Which, of course, we know from the previous books but I felt it a lot more deeply once I was able to know what Edward was really feeling. Edward was continuously reminded by Alice's visions that eventually, Bella would be like them.
I would rate this book an 8.79/10. I think it's fantastic and it kept me hooked despite being over 800 pages long. I really enjoy Stephenie's writing and I'm looking forward to reading "The Host" in March! Since Midnight Sun was super long I didn't have time to read anything else in February but I'll probably have 3 or 4 books read by the end of March.
What books are y'all reading in March?
