Hi friends, strangers, and all in-between. I'm slow cooking a Boston Pork Butt (probably not actually from boston?)
This is a crock pot I inherited from my family, it's probably older than me and I've eaten so much meat from it in my life 😋
2 small onions cut into disc's to prevent burning on the bottom.
Now I know what you're saying, "Nova, just show us that hot a$$ NOW!!" Well here she is
Ohhh what a tease.....she's been sitting in here for probably abt 36 hours in the rub I made.
AHHH SHES NAKED and she looks so yummy delicious already!! This is a mustard rub, with paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Super basic but sooooo good. I feel like this rub would also go good with some cumin, maybe some chile powder too. I don't have any measurements I never measure my seasonings I go based off vibes only. But I will recommend to keep it light on the salt, definitely add some for the marinating process and for the cooking, but you can always add salt to whatever dish your putting the pork in later.
This thing basically doesn't fit =_=. This is the pain of using an old ass crock pot it's small. Sams sells these butts by the /lb and they usually range from like 15-25 dollars. This one was $18 but it still barely fits!!
Now I just add the soda....
I got this set of Dr pepper bc the dollar store was literally all out of non-diet 2L of DP. Interesting guess everyone else in our neighborhood is also making a pork butt
LID GOES ON so we are good, this will definitely cook but will need to be flipped and have the liquid managed. Hopefully it doesn't overflow like it has before 🙏.
Finished product in about 12-14 hours! In the mean time I get to enjoy the smell of meat 😊🍖
