i think ecology is genuinely one of the most critical fields. whether it be climate science, conservation, marine biology or whatever, you're able to learn so much about the place we live. it's just so magical to think about how if you can recognize local flora- species that have likely existed in your area for hundreds if not thousands of years- you can know everything about them in a simple google search. the internet age has made things like ecology so much more accessible, i mean, why wouldn't you want to know what local plants you can eat? why wouldn't you want to know what plants are best for attracting native bugs? i'd literally love to do it all day long if i could! i don't think there's a way to explain just how important this stuff is, if you don't care enough to think and learn about your local environment, why would you even take a crack at thinking and learning and caring about more global issues?
that is not to say to care about climate change you have to major in ecology and be a climate scientist. it just gives you a more complete look at things. idk! i'm insane about nature, i think. i don't even know more than the average person about my local flora, i'm just waxing poetic and i'm a little bit of a hypocrite, but i'm trying to learn! i find ecology to be incredibly interesting, and maybe i'll update my blog as i try to learn :33 that sounds fun. i'll come back with an entry on a native plant, prommy.
(also also, i hate there's no "nature" category or something along those lines.)

THIS IS TRUE!! the weather cycle is such an important part of ecosystems and its fascinating how even the slightest change in annual rainfall affects both flora and fauna :33
