Journal Entry #14: 02/27/23

February’s almost over! Though, I’ll wait to recap the month when March comes. I was supposed to recap January too, but I got caught up with things :/

Nothing really interesting happened Sunday, except for the new clothes I bought. Okay, so I guess something interesting happened Sunday lol I may take some pictures of what I got, but I’m missing a part on my tripod so I’m not sure if I’ll be able to capture a nice picture of me wearing some of the stuff. I’m so excited about these clothes though, I have a whole outfit planned for March!

Tomorrow, I get my cap and gown pictures taken, and I’ve made sure to set up my makeup for tomorrow. Like a lot of other girls, I don’t really wear makeup at all. Despite the fact that I pick at my skin and wash my face, I really don’t like to touch my face. For whatever reason, makeup makes me feel weird, like I’m being untruthful. Anyway, hopefully my picture turns out alright, cause I’m gonna make history on my relatives’ coffee tables!

Today I attended a concert that the high school band opened for. My sister’s in the band, otherwise, I likely wouldn’t have gone. It was pretty nice, though the transition from the opening band to the main band was kind of jarring. The main band’s theme was space, and for the most part it was beautiful, sci-fi-ish and dramatic. Though there was one piece that was really surreal. It was a dramatic singing of the book Goodnight Moon. It was beautiful, but the choice of an operatic-style vocalist was weird. I mean, it’s a children’s book, so I was expecting something more soothing.

After the concert, I stood outside because for whatever reason, the lobby of the music hall makes me feel cramped and misplaced. Standing outside by myself on campus was also surreal. It was as if I wasn’t there with my parents. College students filed out, some hopping into Ubers and golf carts, while others walked home. I’m not going to lie to myself here; I’m pretty sure I’m going to the university that’s in my town. There’s nothing I can do about it. But hey, it will at least feel different doing all these familiar things without my parents.

Anyway, it’s getting late, and I haven’t even done my AP Stats homework!
