[nifukura drabble] smoke break

Trigger Warnings! two married men discussing kissing without their wives knowing. the wives would definitely be fine with this based on canon LMFAO

Context! wotakoi! i always thought it'd be kind of cute if they were polyamorous. this is sort of a gateway into that?

"So Narumi-chan is bisexual?"

"Yup," Nifuji confirmed, taking a drag of his cigarette.

Kabakura huffed. Narumi had shown up to work that day with a small button on the lapel of her usual blazer, and while Kabakura hadn't thought it was against their workplace's dress code, he was curious about the colours. He'd asked her about it nonchalantly on her break, and while he expected it to be a reference to some anime, he'd instead gotten a stumbling explanation that she had, indeed, learned something about herself. "It makes sense when you think about it," he thought aloud, "tons of cute girls in anime. Easy to fall for them. Sometimes I think Koyanagi likes them more than she likes me," he joked.

Nifuji hummed. "You like them more than you like her."

"I do not," Kabakura instantly replied, as though Nifuji landed one square in his hitbox. "We're married."

"I'm a little right."

"Shut up."

The two stood on the office's balcony, smoking in silence, which Nifuji was pretty okay with. This lasted until, as he had originally, Kabakura broke the silence. "Are you?" He asked simply, causing Nifuji to raise an eyebrow. "Y'know, bisexual."

"Oh," Nifuji breathed. "I dunno. I never really thought about it, I guess." He took a second, looking down at the cars passing below their office building. "I didn't mind crossplaying, that one time. I would do it again, if Narumi wanted. I don't know if that's related, though."

"Have you ever kissed a guy?" Kabakura asked, and he didn't know why he asked, he very much blurted it out, because he was certain he'd asked before, and either way it wasn't really his business, was it? "I'm sorry," he apologized, gritting his teeth a bit. "That was. Out of nowhere, and a personal question, and... weird to say. Apologies."

"Kabakura-san..." Nifuji breathed, looking from the ground below to his friend. (In that moment, it sort of felt like Nifuji had been looking down at Kabakura. In a good way or a bad way, Kabakura wasn't sure.) "Are you trying to..." He paused, as though he was trying to decide whether he should say it or not. "Are you trying to... proposition me right now?"

"Don't get ahead of yourself," Kabakura sneered, "I'm not like that."

"I dunno. I mean, have you ever kissed a guy?" Nifuji asked, and Kabakura got the vague feeling that his coworker was probably fucking with him. "Would you like to?" Was the follow-up, upon Kabakura's silence, and the ginger realized yeah, Nifuji was definitely fucking with him.

"Very funny," Kabakura sighed, "I'm married. YOU'RE married."

"As if they'd mind," was Nifuji's (extremely logical) response, (which was true, Kabakura knew it was true, they wouldn't mind- he'd heard about Narumi using Nifuji as a pose reference for her doujinshis before, so certainly, this sort of thing would only be fuel to a pre-existing fire,) and he dropped the topic after that point. The two resumed their smoking in silence until, once again, Kabakura felt the need to address the topic. He couldn't leave it alone, for some reason.

"I mean, we're at work right now, too," he'd stated matter-of-factly, though to Nifuji it sounded more like he was rambling on because his aching blood was taking hold of him. Distantly, the gamer wondered if Kabakura would think of a fanciful name for the printer. "Could you imagine if someone came out here and saw us? We'd- we'd never live it down. We'd probably both get fired for that sort of thing, honestly."

"Kabakura."

"And- and I know Narumi-san and Koyanagi would be okay with it, they'd probably be into it, really, but what if they are? It's definitely one thing to think about it-"

"Kabakura!"

"It's a total other thing to have it acted out-"

"Taro!"

The exclamation of his first name seemed to pull him, if only a bit, from his disastrous thoughts. "You're talking about it like we're already in some..." stealth game, Nifuji's brain autofills, though he knows that isn't correct. "Some... secret office romance." Which, actually, feels worse than just saying a stealth game.

Kabakura huffed. "Isn't that what it feels like, though?! Talking about-"

"Look," Nifuji sighed, leaning in closer to Kabakura- and, in turn, making the ginger jump back. "I'll go drinking with you after work. Just this once." Kabakura feels so- he feels pinned down, though he knows he isn't. He could move at any moment, but he doesn't. He feels warm all over. "It'll be our secret, okay?"

Kabakura exhaled shakily, forcing himself to relax. He rubbed the cigarette on the railing to put it out, and threw the butt into a nearby trash can. "Yeah," he breathed, "sounds good."
