my media list

i thought i'd type up my media list + some thoughts i have about it here! my goal is to complete most of these items by the end of this year. i think it'll be a good opportunity to share what i'm interested in, and who knows, maybe some of you guys reading this might have goals to complete these movies/shows/games this year as well O_O

-

movies:

tokyo godfathers (not started) -
ive wanted to watch this movie for years, one day i saw it appear on my youtube homepage available for free w/ ads and i was like ..oh! lucky me! i think i first heard about it from a video about satoshi kon and his works, one of the main characters is a trans woman and that piqued my interest

paprika (not started) -
another satoshi kon movie that ive had my eyes on for a while. looks really cool. thats about all--im purposefully avoiding any in-depth details about it so i experience it 100% authentically

everything everywhere all at once (not started) -
i dont know a lot about this one, but my friends want to watch it and id love to see it with them. a lot of people seem to enjoy it!

sorry to bother you (not started) -
heard about this forever ago from a youtuber i used to watch (dom's sketch cast, i believe). he did some of the graphics for the movie & i think i would have been interested in it even if his work wasn't present

the imitation game (rewatch) -
oh.. ohh this movie is so sad. i watched it for the first time during my freshman year in computer science class. i had heard of alan turing (...duh) but i didn't know anything about his story so it really hit hard, especially considering i was coming to terms with my identity at that point in time. unfortunate that it's got benedict cumberbitch in it but its a really good movie regardless

labyrinth (not started) -
yeah, the one with david bowie. my friends also really wanna watch this one together lmfao. i like the look of it. i think bowie's cool

kusama: infinity (rewatch) - probably the most inspired ive ever been while watching a documentary. this shit sad as hell. highly recommend

the truman show (not started) - jerma

tv shows:

breaking bad (started) -
lol

kantaro: the sweet tooth salaryman (rewatch) -
this is the best show ever made i seriously dgaf. its so much fun and you get to learn so much about japan's sweets culture. don't watch it in public or without headphones though

dorohedoro (not started)
i like the art style, again, people seem to really like this one. im not sure if ill watch the anime or read the manga, so for now it's in this category (i say that as if i have a books list...)

extraordinary attorney woo (started) -
seen a few episodes so far. this shit is awesome. what can i say that hasn't been said to death already

cardcaptor sakura (not started) -
super cute art. i dont know what goes on in this... she captors the cards?

my little pony: friendship is magic (started) -
oh.. nostalgic. i was a brony in 2014 but i didn't watch much of the show (no cable) so i really wanna like. truly understand. you know?

boogiepop phantom (started) -
"wow cool art" is gonna get really repetitive here soon

gintama (started) -
oh my fucking god... im 170 episodes into the show at this point. my friend recommended it to me and ive never been more glad that i followed through bc it's now one of my all-time favorites even though i'm not done with it yet
it perfectly balances humor with the more serious moments, it gives off the impression of something very thought-through and not just solely existing for the jokes. super awesome. im thinking i might write a separate blog post about it sometime

bang dream! (not started) -
ive been playing bandori for years and i never read the in-game stories so i dont even really know what the fuck these girls are doing

hack://sign (started) -
"wow cool art + i picked up a dvd set at the library on a whim"

games:

resident evil: revelations, resident evil 0, resident evil 1 remake (all started) -
grouped together bc i have similar motivations regarding all of them. except revelations. i would not give a fuck about that one if it werent on the 3ds and if i didn't find that fact insanely funny

hakuoki: kyoto winds + hakuoki: edo blossoms (started, not started) -
grouped bc they technically aren't two different games, they split the original hakuoki into two parts. i played hakuoki: stories of the shinsengumi on 3ds back in 2021 and i thought it was really awesome for an otome game, so im curious to see how the new characters in this remake alter the course of the story ^_^
i also became familiar with the shinsengumi and edo-era japan from this series, that kinda made me more interested in watching gintama and how they portray the shinsengumi!

okami hd (started..?) -
people like this one. bought it years ago. looks cool. havent played it more than once

hades (started) -
another friend recommendation. this game rules and does a really good job of drawing you in. it makes you want to see it through to the end, and its super easy to just pick up and play

yakuza 0 (started) -
dame da ne

final fantasy 7 (started) -
i watched a playthrough a while back but i want to experience it for myself

final fantasy 7: crisis core (started)-
gongaga. also im a little delusional about genesis rhapsodos and i really want to stare at him in full 1080p HD

devil may cry (not started) -
i was reading up on resident evil 4 one day, turns out one of the betas for it turned into devil may cry. super cool. i like bayonetta a lot as is so having those gameplay elements mixed with resident evil 4-like visuals is a match made in heaven for me

puyo puyo tetris 2 (started) -
story mode. im a puyo puyo fanatic. i dont play about puyo

-

what do you think? feel free to leave a comment if any of these jumped out at you. is there one in particular you recommend? is there one in particular that you don't recommend? i doubt ill be able to finish all of these within the span of a year because im slow and forgetful but i'm glad i'm writing this down regardless

If you are looking for interesting games, I still recommend playing Elden Ring. The game is really great and I highly recommend playing it. In this store, the price is really great: https://royalcdkeys.com/products/elden-ring-eu-steam-cd-key
