I Had A Dream

I just woke up from a dream where I had to save a baby dolphin. This dolphin somehow jumped and got trapped in some industrial equipment near the beach and couldn’t get back into the ocean the way that it came. Luckily I was right there to help it, because no one else was in the immediate vicinity. So at first I was a bit hesitant like “Is this thing gonna bite me or what? It might think I’m trying to hurt it.” Anyway, I just picked it up cause I knew it had to be saved. I cradled it like a baby and it started licking my face like a dog. I was relieved and surprised it showed affection. So I start walking with this loveable, sea dog creature wrapped in my arms and people begin noticing my great rescue and are applauding me and recording videos. This is where our story takes a turn. Instead of heading straight to the water I start posing for pictures so I can remember this moment forever and most likely post the pictures online in exchange for sweet, sweet dopamine. So I start wandering away from the beach and just hanging out with and playing with this animal in my arms. After a little while I notice it’s not licking my face anymore. Actually I don’t remember the last time I felt it move. I look down and this thing that a short time ago was healthy and thriving was now withered and dying. I panicked and rushed towards the ocean that I’d strayed from and realized I was lost. There was now a security gate keeping me out of the beach and the guard wouldn’t let me in without clearance. So I went and found a nearby detective to get me in, luckily he was so close by (fun fact he also happened to be Wendell Pierce’s character “Bunk Moreland” from The Wire but I digress). Anyway so I run down to the water and try to get the little guy/girl rescucitated but it was too late. It died. Moral of the story: just throw the dolphin back into the water.
