characters who aren't good people

I think I will always love characters who just aren't necessarily good people because it feels more real and human. For example, literally everyone in Chainsaw Man and Bojack Horseman. It's like, even though you know the characters have said or done terrible things, you still root for them to get better. I truly believe that is how we should treat everyone who has done bad things in the past.

We hate the things they've done, we know they're wrong, and they do, too. Just like real people. We're humans. We fuck up. And that's okay.

Essentially, what I'm saying is, I think that if we had more unconditional love for each other and actually supported each other in getting better and we actually worked to be better beings, the world would be a better place.

love these kinds of characters too! there's a kind of complexity in stories with characters like these that makes them feel realistic. too sad not many writers have the guts to embrace their character's imperfection and messiness.

NO FR ppl CAN change for the better if they know what they've done is wrong and they truly regret it but some ppl just give up on them and it makes me sad bc ): what if they regret it with their whole heart? what then? ru just going to leave them instead of helping them make a new better chapter of their life??

RIGHT like,, i get if you were personally effected by the things they did and you just dont want to interact with them anymore, thats totally fine, BUT if it literally didn't effect you, and you can see that they regret it, shouldn't we,, idk,, root for them to become better people? like we are in the age where a lot of the things we used to think or were taught that they were ok are actually not ok. it's an unlearning and learning process... we can't just give up on everyone who has done something bad in their life because then we'd ALL give up on each other.
