I am ABSOLUTELY convinced that AO was 1) by Alex Bale and 2) one of his first ventures into horror- which would explain why, between Meat Farms and Muse, it hasn't been updating. He's been busy with other shit & hasn't had the time. Meat Farms has been going since sept 2021 and the last AO update was in Feb 2019, I wouldn't be shocked if the lapse was partially him dreaming up and launching Meat Farms. AO also has a certain vibe to it that feels very amateur- it's not that it's overall bad, it's my favorite for a reason but when you've been in the field for this long you start to notice traits like underlying tones of shock value without real plot & also a sense of disconnected bits and pieces through what little storyline there is. for all I adore AO with my entire heart it showcases both of those in droves. I'm wondering if he stepped back from the genre for personal reasons (or simply because he didn't really know where Omniam was going any more than we did) and then returned, realized the lack of context and structure it was currently presenting, and started an entire new project.
All this being said, there is literally no fucking way Meat Farms wasn't either heavily inspired by Omniam (which would be really interesting, but genuinely the two series are so similar in ambiance that i think AO really needs to be getting some credit in that case) or alex CREATED Omniam which. would mean a very long, thorough personal research journey of mine would be over after years. I've been chasing after the identity of the AO creator since i started engaging with horror when i was around 15 and that shit still keeps me up at night
anyway analysis aside I think I'm gonna get into harmony and horror or whatever it's called because it looks like a FNAF ripoff and i need something to replace the hole in my heart where Poppy Playtime was bc I was very invested in that game until I found out about the Everything and on the dl I'm still not over it
