They say when you clear your clutter, you will clear your mind. I
don't know about you, but I'm ready for a fresh start. I will be
decluttering EVERYTHING over the next few months and sharing tips for
those interested in following along. Decluttering your entire life can
feel overwhelming, so I'm breaking it all down into a few small steps
every week. Before you know it, you'll have that transformation you need
to make room for new opportunities!
5 Things to Declutter This Week:
Your Medicine Cabinet:
Discard
all expired medications and any no longer needed. Be sure to dispose of
these safely and remove personal information from your labels to
protect your privacy.
Your Makeup Collection:
Discard
all Makeup that is expired. Get rid of old nail polish. Throw out
anything that made you break out. Get rid of things just sitting there
that you know you'll never use (wrong color, etc.). If you have unopened
items you know you won't use that are still good, donate them on to
family/friends who will!
Your Spices & Condiments:
You
probably clean out your refrigerator regularly, but how often do you
check dates on condiments? Are you guilty of having 3 half used barbecue
sauces bottles hiding in there?
You may
not use all your spices for every meal, but it's nice to have a
collection. However, they do expire and go bad, so toss the old and make
room for some new ones, or just enjoy a more organized spice
collection!
Pro Tip: If you're
into storing spices in the pretty clear jars with homemade labels, be
sure to use a label maker or even a sharpie to mark the expiration date
on the bottom or back so you'll never forget.
Socks:
How
many pairs of socks do you really need though? Do you have a pile of
unmatched socks taking up space in your laundry room? How long until you
just give up on them? The socks with the small hole? Your kids socks
that have seen better days? Toss 'em out! You will be okay with half of
what you have. Promise.
Receipts:
Tax
season is upon us. If you have piles of random receipts sitting around
for your accountant, now is the time to compile it all together. Scan
them onto your computer and get rid of them! Be sure to keep anything
you may need for last minute holiday returns if you still have
time....otherwise, turn that paper clutter into digital files and be
done with them! (Don't forget to check your bags, the glovebox, junk
drawers, etc.)
Pro Tip: Create a
folder for 2020 on your computer. Inside that, create a folder for each
month of the year. Organize your receipts by month to make it easier for
your accountant to go through everything.

It's so hard to get out of a slump. I've been there too. I usually try to make a list of what needs to get done and try to just get one thing done. My list is a mile long, but checking things off helps me stay motivated to get more done. It's also important to ask for help.

Yessssss bb! Can I give you more than 2 kudos? We need to get rid of shit and declutter the hell out of this house. Just the problem is that I work full-time and my wife is crushed under a tidal wave of depression and despair where "everything just feels too big right now" and I don't know how to cheer her up.
