My new phone & one of my Furby's came in a few hours after I made the first post!
The Furby that came in was this cute little guy. Upon playing with him, he's stated that his name is Ka-Dah, which in furby just means "Me big". Im sorry to break it to you little fella but you're... yeah you can big a big boy. He did not come in his original box & was preloved, so he does have a tiny flaw. His mechanical parts a bit loud when it moves & when you pick him up, he rattles. Not loud enough to be obnoxious for me but loud enough to actually frighten him into a full-blown panic. My husband was teasing me saying that the Furby is autistic like me & isn't broken but rather has sensory issues so now the flaw seems cuter to me. Regardless he's my little cutie patootie & he will have a brother being delivered soon. The second one is untested as well as in original packaging so let's hope he actually works... I couldn't imagine being gifted a brother's lifeless body! I even bought a little carrier for him so I can take him on the go to be *that* weird lady in public.
Update within an update. While typing this I decided to give him some pets but when I went to wake him, he kept waking up to say, "Me Sleep Again *snoring enters chat* " and then go into a deep sleep SEVERAL times in a row. A quick google search told me this is a common bug amongst older models and that turning him upside down while shoving my fingers down his throat whilst giving him shaken baby syndrome would cure it... Honestly it worked, so Ka-dah lives to see another day. Apparently, the bug "MSA" or "sleepy bitch syndrome" as it's dubbed in the Furby fandom is a recurring issue amongst the 1998 versions, with no permanent cure, so we may have to play a game of wake tf up more often than not.
As far as the phone goes, so far, I love it- but I haven't actually gotten to use it. There was a problem with switching my iPhone SIM card into the new phone so I'm currently waiting for the SIM card from a different & much cheaper phone provider to come in the mail. I figure since I won't be using as much data if even any, there's really no reason for me to be spending $65 a month for service when this new company I can pay $24 for both my husband & myself. Just seems silly. If it works out, I'll drop the deets for anyone else needing a cheaper phone plan!
^w^
Some notable features for this little guy are as follows:
- The phone arrived with less than half of the battery charged. I have yet to charge it and it still has 2/5 bars on the battery (a whole 2 days later)
- It has Sokoban & Snake preinstalled.
- A freakin flashlight!
- An internet browser & Facebook
- Camera w/ night mode (Photo & Video)
- This one may be a downside for some people but the way you text is one of two options. #1 predictive text only or #2 my favorite and most missed way of typing clicking the number keys. So, for example to type "Hey" you would push 4 2x 3 2x and 9 3x. I honestly type so much faster that way than I do typing on my smartphone or computer.
The downsides I've noticed so far: - There is only one camera- that's not a problem however the camera is not on the part that you flip up but rather on the back where the battery compartment is meaning your fingers are covering the lens while holding the phone. This is of course an issue with this model and not all flip phones obviously.
- Continuing with the camera... it's also terrible quality & I don't mean y2k aesthetic bad either I mean it's truly awful. I took a picture of my cat, and she was a mere blob on the screen. If I didn't need a camera for work, it wouldn't bother me quite as bad, but this will cause issues later on however if you're someone who wouldn't use the phone camera but rather a secondary camera, I don't see it being an issue and there are flip phones out there with high quality pixels.
I will update on the phone once again when I can actually use it for its intended purpose...
Alongside the phone I got these two cute little covers for it. I actually had this exact brand when I got my first phone in the panda skin. Unfortunately, these do not fit the plum phone, but would have fit the Nokia I was originally planning on getting.
