Song Recs #3 (feb 23)

I haven't posted enough of these to say I'm 'late' to posting this month's song recs. It's still February so you can't complain. Let's get going.

This month's crying song: Middle by Kind Of Like Spitting

At the time of writing I'm unwell and defacto housebound, have been since I started this blog. Had to take a break from school, and so I can't see my friends often by virtue of logistics. The best I usually get is voice chat. This song melts my heart with all the friendshippy feelings i can't fully articulate. I have told my friends as much. I can listen to this song on loop.

This month's 'anime opening in your head' song: ¡Ah Pero Cómo Vendo Cassettes!
 by Panda

Before you tell me this doesn't sound like an anime opening, I need you to go revisit the Death Note OPs. With that out of the way, the background of this song is actually quite interesting. The artist, Panda, is a big time pop-punk band in Mexico that fell into controversy when they were accused of copyright infringement (a bogus charge based on a bogus law, imo.) and this song was their response... 'oh but how I sell tapes!' Iconic. The album this is off of, 'Amantes sunt amentes' is very good (though the other tracks aren't as loud).

This month's song to play when you're chilling: En La Ciudad De La Furia by Soda Stereo

This month we'll have two non-english titles. Since Spanish is like the 2nd most spoken language you will Deal With It. Anyways this song not only is very chill-sounding and 'vaporwave' (really it was just written 30+ years ago) but it is also very interesting in its subject matter! Soda Stereo hails from Argentina, and En La Ciudad De La Furia envisions an alternate version of Buenos Aires populated by winged humans, the title literally translating as 'In The City Of The Fury'.
