Writing

I've been tasked to write a short story using magic realism. I don't exactly know what it is but I took what was given and ran with it.

I've written a story about sibling, an older brother and younger sister, going through highschool. They can see dark souls, dark shadows that indicate how troubled/troubling a person is, they thought they were the only ones who can see them. They keep it secret as to not trouble anyone around them. 

The school is getting filled to the brim with students who magically appear and cause trouble around them. A character, whose name I want to change, is introduced telling them that they are in fact more educated on the topic and can see the dark souls in a way they can't. He informs the siblings that dark souls are more than they think, and that there is acrack between the shadow realm and the human realm. If they don't fix it the world will be over run and be like a living hell. They only have very little time before the crack becomes too big to fix.

I was thinking of making it have 2 endings but it's due tomorrow so there will be only one. This is a story I've made to play around with my characters and I hope they improve the more I write.
