so this list will be separated by decades up until like modern music where i’ll just list random genres and artists from those genres since i don’t listen to a hell of a ton of modern music. hope you enjoy! this masterlist could also probably be useful for people who are looking for friends to connect over music with. feel free to drop any suggestions below as well! i’m constantly on the lookout to expand my musical horizons. this is kind of an infodump post as well! enjoy! any artists/bands in the more info-dumpy paragraph sections who are bolded are artists/bands that i enjoy/want to get into!
1920’s-1950’s
I don’t listen to a lot of music from this time period but I listen to a LOT of jazz music, and a handful of the jazz I listen to comes from this time period. I also enjoy some 50s doo-wop music. But yeah. Most of what I listen to from this time period is big band jazz music. Duke Ellington, Django Reinhardt, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, and Louis Prima are quite rad! Other 50s music I enjoy comes from Duane Eddy, Harry Belafonte, and I also like various songs from other artists like Ritchie Valens even if I don’t regularly listen to those artists.

2000’s
Now I honestly don’t really listen to much 2000s music (even though I was literally born during that decade LMFAO) but there is some stuff I like. For example I’m a huge Animal Collective fan. And I also love System Of A Down, and Broadcast. I kinda want to check out Paramore’s early stuff since I’m a big fan of their newer stuff but I’m not the biggest fan of modern pop-punk and “emo” music (which is funny since a lot of scene/scemo people are on this website). I really have been meaning to get into Franz Ferdinand though. I also love Ween and Gorillaz, and like some songs by MGMT but I want to listen to them more. I also want to get more into LCD Soundsystem and Sufjan Stevens.
2010’s-2020’s
When it comes to this time period I’m the biggest fan of post-punk revival stuff, so for example I’m a massive fan of Viagra Boys and Automatic, as well as Shopping and Special Interest. I listen to a lot of contemporary post-punk considering post-punk is my main favorite music genre. I also like some modern punk like Amyl and The Sniffers and The Spits. I’m also really into modern synth-pop and vaporwave and all that. Some of my other modern favorites are MARINA, Part Time, Poppy, TV Girl, and various hyperpop artists such as Fraxiom and SOPHIE. I also really love The Garden and Jack Stauber. I also occasionally listen to Lemon Demon, Chloe Moriondo, and Addison Grace. I also really love Mac DeMarco and black midi, and King Gizzard!
*this list will be updated as i get into more artists/bands! also unfortunately spacehey decided to be stupid while i was editing and as a result for the 2000’s and 2010’s-2020’s sections the artist names aren’t bolded and the headers aren’t underlined and it’s pissing me off because it doesn’t look right but whatever i give up ❤️ the 1990’s header isn’t underlined either*

I'm not a big fan of 80s songs but I have a few songs from that era on my playlit (but it's quite rare) hair/glam metal is not my cup of tea but it’s always fascinates me :D but I love listening to Guns N' Roses (late 80s/early 90s)
