Murder Drones Episode 3 “Review”/Thoughts

**MURDER DRONES EPISODE THREE SPOILERS AHEAD, DON’T SAY I DIDN’T WARN YOU!**

So, the third episode of MD released a couple of days ago, it was a great start to my long weekend :)

To organize my thoughts better, I’m going to break this up into sections:

Plot: As a prom episode, the use of this as a lighter backdrop to a more gruesome episode was nice. Of course, the first thing that we’re shown is a drone dying, and then we pick up where we left off last episode, with Uzi feeling bad for doubting N after realizing the complexities behind the murder drones. We learn that V also has memories of being a worker drone, but she doesn’t seem to want to share or is hiding something. Also, it becomes apparent that N doesn’t really like V anymore, which is an interesting turn, especially since we saw that they “sparked” when they were worker drones last episode. Oh, and the twists! Everyone thought V was gonna kill, but then Doll killed, so, that was interesting. The fight between Uzi and Doll was great, I loved the choreography and the rainbow/colorful lighting that they used at the end of the fight. Honestly, I didn’t expect Doll to become a more important character in this story, but I am extremely intrigued. Hopefully, she’ll end up revealing how the absolute solver works. Also, since Uzi has it too, she ends up kinda mirroring her abilities. Uzi putting the oil in her mouth makes me think that she may be willing to turn to Doll, even if Doll already agreed to help her out. Last twist, J is back!? …and Tessa. First of all, I don’t really like J, but since she died during the first episode, it should’ve been obvious that she was going to come back. As for Tessa, we might as well welcome the first human antagonist in this series. Obviously she’s here to kill, but what will she do with the murder drones? Could she tempt N to join her by offering him freedom? I’m so ready for the next episode!

Questions and Theories: I don’t really have any theories, but one I’ve been interested in is the alphabet theory and how the murder drones are hierarchical. This theory foreshadows another drone (R). There was no new murder drone this episode, but considering the new landing pods shown at the end, this new drone may show up in the next episode. What I want to know now is, why is the absolute solver a thing? They clearly have more power than a murder drone, and considering the jewelry that Doll and Uzi have, there are more drones that have the absolute solver. Why is Doll having to survive off of worker drones? Why did Tessa revive J? Also this new J is supposed to be a clone, does this clone remember anything, or is Tessa controlling her? How much time has passed since the worker drones became murder drones? Also, how long had Lizzy and V been friends?

Animation: Considering the second episode, I really think Glitch is solidifying their style. The lighting and effects are top notch, and I love the details, such as the missing posters from this episode. Also, considering that Kevin Temmer has joined the animation crew, I think I was able to point out a scene that he likely worked on lol. Obviously this episode wasn’t a visual spectacle like the first, but I think they found a happy medium when it comes to detail on specific time constraints.

The Shipping Wars *sigh*: Alright, time to address the elephant in the room:NUzi. First of all, anyone claiming that Liam Vickers has taken any stance on shipping is wrong, he has stated that he doesn’t want to deal with that. Also, I’m pretty sure Uzi was confirmed to not be a minor, so all people who are afraid of pro shipping can be relieved of their problems lol. Anyway, I don’t really know how to feel about this ship. I don’t even really like ships that much, anyway. Honestly, I think they’re kinda cute, but part of me wants to interpret their interactions in this episode as platonic. N protected Uzi a couple of times, and I attribute this to a platonic love. At this rate though, I’m coping. This ship has sailed! We’ll see what happens next episode. Also, what about N x V? I guess they’re throwing it out, N said V sucked a couple times lol. I saw this post a redditor made stating how they think Glitch was swayed to do this by the fandom. I kinda believe it. But you know what would be funny, if Uzi got injured and had to put her hand in his mouth again (this time with him being fully aware lol).

Closing remarks/extra stuff: I’m glad the meta humor isn’t as bad as it once was. It’s not as prevalent in this episode, putting more focus on what’s happening narratively. Also, Uzi’s smile was cute, I was not expecting the word girl boss to show up. The pacing was also better here, but it sometimes feel like an undetermined amount of time passes between episodes. Also N is still best boy.
