Trying to run a Debian 11 installer on a 20 year old laptop with 1 gig of memory and a massive 60 gig hard drive. Thing's got an Intel Centrino as its processor. Why do I waste my life like this?

try doing arch , you get more configuration with that & you can get more out of older computers
I wanted to, but the system runs an i386 or i686 processor. Arch 32-bit seems a bit unstable, but I'll try that at some point. I use Arch as my daily driver on my main laptop.
