This past Wednesday, Mike and I went to his studio in Jersey City, not to rehearse but to record. No we didn't start the next album just yet but we managed to get the ball rolling a bit.
TC Tolliver (Plasmatics) on new Steve Bello album
You read that right. It took a while with all of our schedules being so crammed but it happened. TC came up to Bandmother Recording to lay down his REALLY GREAT drum parts for one song on the upcoming cd. The guitar is muted in the video because I didn't want anyone stealing my ideas (it's happened in the past). But the drums are front and center, and while Mike is still playing on the other seven songs, TC adds a different flavor to the mix.
You may recall that TC and I played together back in 2012 and 2014 with bassist TM Stevens. And TC played in my band between 2012-2013 as well. We've been friends since 1993 but we never recorded together.
Until now.
It's only the one song but that's fine with us. We had a blast tracking the drums for sure. As for my trio, we have one more song to work on (it's a Pink Floyd/Yes-type 'ballad') and then we will tighten everything up for May recording. And of course Brian and I will lay down our parts over TC's drums and it should be really wild.
No matter how old I am, the excitement is still there.
