omorphia

i believe a guitar or a car can be more beautiful than a woman, both inside and out.

guitars can have such pretty and sometimes intense voices (intrinsically, without the need for distortion effects), and cars may be silent until a strong scream comes out of their heart. holding a guitar neck and plucking the strings is such an intimate feeling, & holding the wheel and pressing the pedals a comfort-bringing feeling. the shapes and curves and colours must have been engineered to appeal to the eye in this way.

after all, the greek word for beauty, omorphia (ομορφιά) means "wholly shaped", thus "perfectly shaped", as it has all the shape it needs and thus is perfect. and guitars and automobiles seem to fit my definition of such. the shape of an auto and a guitar makes me want to pick it up and drive or play it. the feeling from touch and sound and sometimes smell that come from each thusly make me want to keep doing so. a guitar can sing the prettiest song to heal my heart, and a car can bring me to the deepest of comforts to warm my body.
