Are you a Dream Catcher? First post & Chasing Dreams!

“We’re the kids who are dead inside, but we’re the ones who feel alive. We dream ‘cause we don’t sleep. We’ll never get rest, but we got this.” - As It Is

It’s me, I am the kid who is dead inside yet wholly feels alive. I may not be good at sleeping, yet I am very good at dreaming. And most of all, I have no plans on slowing down or resting. We all have these dreams inside us, and like I once heard Cody Carson (of Set It Off) at Warped Tour say, “If you have that drive and you have that passion, you can make your dreams a fucking reality.” Haha, remember when Warped Tour was a thing of the present and not just a memory of the past? When life would still throw rocks and boulders, but the hope of the Summer and the Warped Tour was a constant joy. Yeah… me too. Anyways, back to chasing dreams and making them a reality, because every day I am living my dream and so can you!

It feels so surreal to actually be running my own music magazine. While it is super small and off to a rocky start, middle and high school me would never have imagined I would make it this far. I have always loved writing and journalism, so the fact I am writing as part of my career does not surprise me much. I mean, out of the million and two dream careers I had as a child, a couple constant careers were being a novelist and a journalist/reporter. Flash forward to high school and the world as I knew it started shifting faster than I could cope. That was when music came into play. I would hold on to lyrics as if they were rope, pulling myself up from the trenches. If you told 2016 Hana that in 2019 she would shoot Set It Off on a headlining tour, she would have asked if you were on AO3 or Wattpad (possibly even quotev, if you know you know.) But in 2019, I actually did get the chance to capture Set It Off on Part Three of their Midnight Tour. In 2020 I thought having the chance to shoot Silverstein was my peak. In 2021 I am running my own online zine, gaining opportunities I never thought possible, trying new paths, and so much more. Truth is, this is only the beginning. I have so much to learn and so much to gain in the future, but for now I am just harvesting what I have while planting new seeds for whatever is to come.

So why write about it? The simple answer is why not. Why not share my thoughts and knowledge with the world through the interwebs. The long answer? I want to show others that it truly is possible to achieve those dreams you have been chasing after. Success is not easy. I have failed many times, and still fail to this day sometimes, but the most important thing is that I have kept moving forward. I want to write a blog to show the process so maybe one of you can be inspired to get up and go after the life you want. It really isn’t just some corny bullshit that people say. Well, not if you push through the failures to find that success. It has been a hot minute since I set up a blog, so when I saw heyspace I was excited to get back to my beginnings- just a human behind a keyboard sharing thoughts on the internet. I also love how myspace has been regenerated for a whole generation who never had the joy of learning HTML or CSS to make your profile page pop. The hours spent learning how to creatively express yourself while meeting new people that share the same interests as you.

I guess what I am trying to say is, if you are waiting for a sign to start doing something you have always wanted to do: THIS IS YOUR SIGN! Start that YouTube channel, write a first blog post, create that song you always wanted to hear. The opportunities are endless, we just have to find them. This is not just some fanfiction where an average kid gets the dream career/goal. This is real life, and in real life we truly do have what it takes to make our dreams become reality. Only if we want it that is. Put your intentions into the world and do that thing you are scared of. Send it!

I think this concludes my first blog post since forever ago, haha. Thank you so much for reading my thoughts! It’s so cool to have a platform to just share my thoughts in a chill environment and with no character limit. Spacehey may be the new best social media, and to be honest, I am all here for that! Myspace 2.0: The social media people ACTUALLY want. I’m going to end this post as I plan on ending all my posts, with a song, album, and new band of the week. DFTBA and stay posi! <333
