This is something I think hard on a lot but just can't understand. Why are some people so weird and creepy? There's another site I use to talk to people when I'm bored and want to waste time and it's not uncommon for people on there to call you friend. These are people who barely have spoken to you yet they're calling you friend while throwing praises at you and saying how much they care about you or want you to be happy or whatever. It's so weird and creepy like what do you want? Are you expecting something from me? Is this a very poor attempt at manipulation? Or do you have the mental capacity of a ten year old?

It could be anything really. Some people genuinely are just extremely sympathetic for no reason. Some people just don't know what else to say I guess. Not everyone is all that great at making friends or socializing. But some people think that simple praise will have you jumping into their arms fawning over them lol. Just trust your gut feeling I guess.

It could be improper reading of the situation - possibly casued by unfamiliartity with the internet way of communication or it can be a proper cultural difference between people from different countries and cultural backgrounds. It could also be somewhat malicious or manipulative. iT could also be any number of things but these are the ones that come to mind from the get-go.

Very true. Shame I forgot to list that as a reason since I'm one of those people too.
