I think it's pretty obvious from my profile how madly hyperfixated I've become with 2000s-2010s alternative/warped tour-esque music genres. It's to the point that I've basically made it my goal to search out every new band and album I possibly can.
I also have always been super into history. Those two in combination have led me to have a massive interest in the history of the bands and artists I've been listening to.
Besides searching out old Alternative Press Magazines on ebay and facebook marketplace (interestingly bought my starting collection of magazines from an old lady on there), youtube has been a great resource.
I thought I would share some of my favorite youtube channels for anyone else who is interested in this kinda stuff too:
- The Cozy Representative ~ honorable mention to this guy for probably being the first super insightful youtuber I came across when I first started getting into this topic. He also just gives wholesome/good vibes to me lol (very fitting name-wise).
- The Punk Rock MBA ~ this dude has a ton of videos on a ton of topics going back years so there's a lot of information here.
- Alternative Press ~ the classic news company that has been at the core of this music scene for years. Their youtube channel is just as insightful as their magazines. I usually watch a lot of their older stuff, it's good primary source info.
- Digital Tour Bus ~ another channel that has videos dating back for years. There's an 80% chance any popular band you can think of from this era has done a bus tour with them. My favorite ones personally are the videos they've done with Pierce the Veil, Motionless in White, and Waterparks, they're really entertaining. It's also cool to see how the vehicles these bands toured in evolved as they got bigger. Motionless in White started out in a really shitty cramped van and eventually got to a luxury tour bus for example.
- Disc Review ~ this is a very underrated channel that does album reviews but recently started making band history videos as well. They cover scene bands but also branch out a bit to include modern bands like Hail the Sun and other alternative genres too.
- BandPrevail ~ (thx to Xx_Sk3lluna_xX for this rec!) really high quality and detailed videos documenting the history of scene bands.
Sorry for the super short list ><. I am actively on the lookout for these kinds of youtube channels so this will definitely be updated as I find more.
If you know of any other YouTubers that make videos about this kinda stuff I'd be super grateful if you recommended them to me in the comments.

Thanks so much for sharing!! It can be hard to find authentic resources on a time that was so subjective with everyone's experience. Yesterday I found a new channel who has a few videos on early 2000s bands, and I really liked their Panic! series. BandPrevail is their username! Can't wait to check these recs out :3
